Kogi, Nigeria’s confluence state, records two cases of COVID-19

The government of Kogi, the state that links Nigeria’s Southern and the Northern regions, has recorded two cases of coronavirus infection.

Governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, has earlier engaged in serious bickering with Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) over the Centre’s handling of testing for the dreaded infection.

His state has, over two months, not recorded any case and it, at some points, became a reference point for some conspiracy theorists who believe that daily figure being churned out on COVID-19 was a scam.

Bello had also threatened to quarantine officials of Presidential Taskforce on Coronavirus who have gone on fact-finding mission to his state.

Kogi state was, however, on Wednesday, May 27, confirmed by the NCDC to have recorded two cases of COVID-19.

NCDC tweeted; “389 new cases of #COVID19; Lagos-256, Katsina-23, Edo-22, Rivers-14, Kano-13, Adamawa-11, Akwa Ibom-11, Kaduna-7, Kwara-6, Nasarawa-6, Gombe-2, Plateau-2, Abia-2, Delta-2, Benue-2, Niger-2, Kogi-2, Oyo-2, Imo-1, Borno-1, Ogun-1, Anambra-1.

“8733 cases of #COVID19Nigeria, Discharged: 2501, Deaths: 254.”
